Sustainability at Alassia is operational, not promotional. It is engine specifications, charter structures, crew welfare programmes and governance rules, each verifiable, most of them audited.
Environmental
We maintain our vessels to and beyond regulatory and class requirements, under an environmental management system accredited to ISO 14001 and an energy management system accredited to ISO 50001, both since 2016. The fleet is modern and largely Japanese built; many vessels carry scrubbers and energy saving devices, and recent newbuildings are delivered with EGR-equipped main engines. By committing a large part of the fleet to long term charters with major charterers, we share with them the goal of reducing carbon emissions, and we act on it: our first B24 biofuel voyage was completed with Cargill in Singapore aboard M/V Marathassa, and we cooperate with charterers to trial new technologies and performance software across the fleet.
Social
Our seafarers’ safety, wellbeing and mental health are an operating priority, not a programme. Vessels are modern, with gyms and accommodation rated above average; communication between ship and shore is open and direct; and the annual Officers’ Conference in Manila brings crews and management to the same table every year. We are a signatory of the Neptune Declaration, a member of ISWAN, and long-standing contributors to seafarer welfare causes. Ashore, we are an accredited Great Place to Work.
Governance
We treat all, from partners to colleagues, equally and without prejudice, under published policies covering ethics, anti-bribery, data protection and cyber security. Procurement runs through an electronic platform that makes our anti-bribery rules explicit to every supplier. Our annual ESG disclosures, prepared to SASB metrics for marine transportation and published every year since 2021, are available under Reports.
