This year's Day of the Seafarer, themed "Carrying world trade. Carrying the risks," names something our industry too often leaves unsaid. The people at sea don't choose the geopolitics they sail through. When a route runs near the Red Sea or the Strait of Hormuz, the risk is theirs to carry, while the rest of the world's shelves stay stocked without a second thought.
At Alassia, we hold to a simple test: if a hard situation landed in our head office, how would we respond? The answer has to be the same for the crew. They're colleagues, not contractors, which is why bringing people home, keeping families connected, and protecting mental health alongside physical safety isn't a one-day campaign for us. It's the standard, the other 364 days too.
